A legacy gift to Maine Preservation costs you nothing today and helps ensure that Maine's treasured historic places are protected and preserved for future generations.
You can designate a specific asset or a percentage of your estate (including cash, securities, real estate, or other property) to Maine Preservation through your will or revocable trust.
Whether you are creating your estate plan or updating an existing one, adding a bequest can be done with a simple provision or amendment. You may name Maine Preservation as either a primary beneficiary or a contingent beneficiary.
Benefits:
Your gift costs you nothing now. You retain full control of your assets and can change or update your gift at any time. If you prefer, your gift can remain anonymous.
Your gift may offer tax benefits or help lessen the tax burden for your heirs.
You can designate your gift for a specific purpose. (Please check with Maine Preservation to confirm that your wishes are clearly understood and that your gift can be used as intended.)
You can leave a gift in honor or memory of someone who inspired your passion for preservation.
Sample bequest language:
I, [name], of [city, state, zip code], devise and bequeath to Maine Preservation, a qualified 501(c)(3) organization, PO Box 488, Yarmouth, ME 04096, Federal Tax ID Number 01-0319524, the sum of $______ [or ______% of my estate], to be used for its unrestricted use and purpose.

For donors of any age, you can name Maine Preservation as a primary or contingent beneficiary for part or all of your retirement plan (IRA, 401(k), 403(b), etc.) by simply completing a beneficiary designation form provided by your plan administrator.
