Staff

Tara Kelly - Executive Director    tara@mainepreservation.org

Tara has more than 14 years of experience in historic preservation, nonprofit management, policy and advocacy initiatives, public and education programming, and fundraising. Previously, she served as the Vice President of Policy & Programs of The Municipal Art Society of New York, a 128-year-old advocacy organization that promotes historic preservation, urban planning, and public art in New York City. Prior to that, she was Executive Director of Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts in Manhattan.

She is currently Co-chair of the Advisory Council of the Maine Downtown Center, an initiative of the Maine Development Foundation; a Board Member of Preservation Action, a national advocacy organization; and a member of the MEREDA Public Policy Committee. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Isles of Shoals Association and the Board of Advisors of the Historic Districts Council. She also has been a member of the Island Heritage & Artifacts and Property Standards Committees of the Star Island Corporation. She holds an M.S. in Historic Preservation from Pratt Institute and a B.S. in Linguistics from Georgetown University.

Gina Lamarche - Development Director

Gina Lamarche joined Maine Preservation in September 2019. She previously served at Executive Director of Sustain Wayne, Director of Programming and Membership for Kennebec Land Trust, Director of Membership Services for Maine Wilderness Watershed Trust, and most recently, the co-owner of Old Firehouse Farm in Wayne. She holds a BA in psychology from University of Maine at Farmington. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, hiking, and Nordic skiing.

Jonathan Hall - Field Services Specialist

Jonathan is a native Mainer from Auburn and Portland. For 20+ years he was professionally involved in the historic preservation field in Savannah and St. Augustine before he returned to Maine in 2019. He’s served a progressive variety of roles from framing to finish carpenter, job foreman, project manager, preservation consultant and conservator, while earning a Bachelor’s degree in Historic Preservation from Savannah College of Art and Design. His projects include multiple historic houses in Savannah’s historic district, churches, Historic Savannah Foundation’s museums and the Flagler Museum. His skill set brings academic, practical, and design-based philosophies to the stewardship and protection of our shared cultural resources.

Brad Miller - Director of Programs & Services

Brad joins Maine Preservation with over eight years of experience in historic preservation. For the past five years, he worked with Indiana Landmarks, the country’s largest statewide, historic preservation non-profit organization. After a one-year stint as a Community Preservation Specialist, he served as Director of the Northwest Field Office, where he assisted communities, local governments, and property owners in preserving historic buildings in a four-county region. Prior to his work in Indiana, Brad worked with the Somerville, Massachusetts, Historic Preservation Commission and the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Calumet Heritage Partnership, Indiana Lincoln Highway Association, and was the Cultural Resources Advisory Board Member for the Indiana Lake Michigan Coastal Program. Brad holds a M.A. in Public History from Middle Tennessee State University and a B.A. in History from Gettysburg College. When he’s not busy looking at old buildings, he enjoys hiking, ultimate frisbee, and sampling locally roasted coffee.
