Staff

Tara Kelly - Executive Director    tara@mainepreservation.org

Tara joined Maine Preservation in 2021 with more than a decade of leadership in historic preservation, nonprofit management, policy and advocacy initiatives, public programming, and fundraising. Previously, she served as the Vice President of Policy & Programs of The Municipal Art Society of New York, an advocacy organization that promotes historic preservation, urban planning, and public art in New York City. Prior to that, she was Executive Director of Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts in Manhattan.

She currently sits on the Advisory Council of the Maine Downtown Center, an initiative of the Maine Development Foundation, and is a member of the MEREDA Public Policy Committee. She has served on the Board of Directors of Preservation Action and the Isles of Shoals Association, as well as the Board of Advisors of the Historic Districts Council. She also has been a member of the Island Heritage & Artifacts and Property Standards Committees of the Star Island Corporation. She holds an M.S. in Historic Preservation from Pratt Institute and a B.S. in Linguistics from Georgetown University.

Brad Miller - Director of Programs & Services

Brad joined Maine Preservation in 2021 with over eight years of experience in historic preservation. Previously, he worked with Indiana Landmarks, the country’s largest statewide, historic preservation non-profit organization. After a one-year stint as a Community Preservation Specialist, he served as Director of the Northwest Field Office, where he assisted communities, local governments, and property owners in preserving historic buildings in a four-county region. Prior to his work in Indiana, Brad worked with the Somerville, Massachusetts, Historic Preservation Commission and the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area.

He has served on the Board of Directors of the Calumet Heritage Partnership, Indiana Lincoln Highway Association, and was the Cultural Resources Advisory Board Member for the Indiana Lake Michigan Coastal Program. Brad holds a M.A. in Public History from Middle Tennessee State University and a B.A. in History from Gettysburg College. When he’s not busy looking at old buildings, he enjoys hiking, ultimate frisbee, and sampling locally roasted coffee.

Elsie Parrot - Field Services Specialist

Elsie Parrot joined Maine Preservation in 2024 with three years of experience in historic preservation. Previously, she was an Architectural Historian at NTM Engineering in Philadelphia, where she prepared cultural resource studies for transportation projects. Prior to her work in cultural resource management, she interned at preservation non-profit organizations including Historic Charleston Foundation and Menokin in Warsaw, Virginia. Elsie was also a Maine Preservation Summer Fellow in 2019. She holds a B.A. in Historic Preservation and Community Planning from the College of Charleston and an M.S. in Architectural Conservation from the University of Edinburgh. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, sewing, and crafts. Elsie grew up in Gorham and is excited to be back home in Maine. 

Kyle Clifford - Development Coordinator

Kyle joined Maine Preservation in 2025. Previously, she served as the Donor Engagement Coordinator at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in Portland where she managed both public and private events to advance the development team's fundraising and engagement goals. Prior to relocating to Maine, she developed and managed community programming at The Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, MA, and organized a national literacy conference during her time at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.

Kyle holds a B.S. in Psychology from Northeastern University and an M.Ed. in Arts, Community, and Education from Lesley University. Originally from the Midwest, she looks forward to exploring and supporting Maine's rich history and vibrant communities through her work at Maine Preservation.
