Join us at the Old Building Forum to learn how Mainers are commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Sarah Hansen, Director of the Maine Semiquincentennial Commission, will present the Maine Atlas, a living, digital portrait of Maine—its people, places, stories, and traditions. The project brings together 250 curated entries that highlight the depth and diversity of Maine’s history and culture. David Greenham, Executive Director of Viles Arboretum, will then share the deep history of what is now the arboretum. David’s research on the ancestral home of several tribes of the Wabanaki Federation, the emergence of the working farm for the Maine Insane Hospital, and the beginnings of the Pine Tree State Arboretum, was funded in part by a grant from the Maine Semiquinecentennial Commission.
